Christians and Divorce… in America.
But, you see, it’s really NOT about divorce. It’s not about Christian divorce help. At least, not as solutions to the overall problem. This free Guide introduces the reader to the “divorce problem” through the eyes of married life.
Here are two very well-known marriages in early America. One of the marriages contributed to the establishment of our young nation. That marriage produced so much “good” for so many people that it is hard to imagine a host of marriages which could accomplish such a pronounced impact.
That marriage… accomplished so much over so long a period of time. It helped to build a young nation!
But… there was another marriage. Both the husband and wife turned away from Christian training and teaching. They never divorced. Divorce didn’t do any damage to the nation from this couple. There marriage was horrid and its influence pervasive. All the Christian counseling on the planet couldn’t have helped this marriage produce anything but a damaging legacy.
- Maybe… just maybe… there is another problem embedded in the “divorce problem” confronting American Christian marriage, divorce and remarriage.
- Maybe… Christianity and divorce can be addressed by handling this embedded issue… and others like them.
- Perhaps, the burning issue of the divorced Christian won’t have to lead to hurt and painful repercussions (which as Christians we shouldn’t be doing anyway!)
- Perhaps, redeeming a person – helping them through this intense trial – can lead to real rebuilding of lives.
- Perhaps, instead of Christians feeling guilty over issues brought to their doorstep by unfaithful spouses, MAYBE Christian people can HELP solve such problems BEFORE they become the tragedies we are all used to hearing about … praying about … and watching helplessly as they fail to heal…

“Isn’t it time for solutions to the divorce plague among Christians?” What if it isn’t a divorce plague after all?
Due to my position as an officer in the church, I and my wife were so often involved with counseling other Christian couples who struggled with their marriages. We love this Guide! It brought to a head so many of the problems we had faced but couldn’t put a name to them. And then we read through the solutions offered. We liked the approach. First, the real problems were addressed. Then we were directed to solutions! Isn’t it time for solutions to the divorce plague among Christians? Then again… What if it isn’t a “divorce plague” after all? Thank you so much! It certainly does shock us that so much suffering is happening all around us. So many feel guilty about things they have no control over… Like the unfaithfulness of a spouse, the abuse of children, drunken habits leading to violence in homes or the unrealistically poor counsel of the some churches toward married life and its problems. In the churches, so much is due to our unwillingness to consider the fact that perhaps, the problems are being created by something deeper than any of us really knew. This Guide forced us to look into HOW DEEPLY this issue REALLY has gone in the churches… and HOW much we’ve neglected – or simply are UNABLE – to answer! Dan and Debbie Perrine |
